Registrations for 2014 NFAIS Annual Conference still open

The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAIS) has announced that registrations are now being accepted for the 2014 NFAIS Annual Conference, Giving Voice to Content: Re-envisioning the Business of Information. The event is scheduled for February 23 - 25, 2014, at the Hyatt at the Bellevue in Philadelphia, PA.

Latest release of Price Rx includes NADAC pricing information and additional user enhancements

Wolters Kluwer Health has announced that Price Rx® v2.2 now features NADAC pricing information and several other key enhancements, helping to save users valuable time in research and reporting for selected drug products. Price Rx customers now have the ability to quickly reference the National Average Drug Acquisition Cost (NADAC), the newly published national pricing benchmark from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), directly from within the Price Rx application for a given drug product.

STM publisher Springer Science+Business Media (Springer) has acquired the French publisher of driving school materials, Planète Permis SAS, based in Gertwiller (Alsace), France. The acquisition complements the existing driving school and road safety publishing activities of Springer.

American University of Kuwait selects EBSCO Information Services as e-book supplier for 2014

The American University of Kuwait (AUK), an independent, private and coeducational liberal arts institution of higher education, has selected EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) as its e-book supplier for 2014. AUK is a long-time EBSCO customer and they subscribe to many EBSCOhost® databases. Being able to search e-books alongside databases will be a huge benefit to the university.

Informa's Taylor & Francis extends Library & Information Science Author Rights pilot scheme

Routledge, part of the Taylor & Francis Group, has been running a Library & Information Science Author Rights pilot scheme that allows authors to post their peer-reviewed Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) to an institutional repository immediately after publication. The two year pilot scheme, first introduced in 2011, has now been extended for at least a further year to enable Routledge to consider alternative approaches to copyright and to find sustainable ways of extending author rights.

Given the success of digital subscription services in the film, television, and music industries, publishing industry stakeholders have wondered how and when these services will affect book content distribution. Affordable, open access publishing now available to biological and medical science researchers

UK universities will now be able to centrally fund their researchers' publication plans for biological and medical sciences journal PeerJ following an agreement with Jisc. This will allow authors to publish articles in the journal for free, for life. With the new arrangement, institutions pre-pay for publication plans and individuals take advantage of that pre-payment when they come to publish.

Ingram Content Group Inc. has announced that GEN Grupo Editorial Nacional (Grupo GEN), a scientific, technical and professional publisher group in Brazil, has selected its Vital Source solution for e-textbook and digital content production, management and distribution.
