EBSCO Information Services acquires Plum Analytics

Library resources provider EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has acquired Plum Analytics in a deal that brings together the leading subscription services, database, e-book and discovery provider with the leading provider of alternative research metrics. Plum Analytics is the first altmetrics provider to move beyond metrics about articles and track all research output in any form, providing a powerful tool that augments traditional metrics.

CONTEC Brasil to focus on interactive learning and innovative teaching methods

The Frankfurt Book Fair, scheduled for October 8-12, 2014, will expand its activities in Brazil in 2014 to include the CONTEC Brasil conference series, which will take place in various states throughout the country. The first conference will be held on February 18, 2014 in Sesc Vila Mariana, São Paulo. An additional CONTEC conference will take place in Canoas/Rio Grande del Sul on February 20, 2014 in cooperation with the education ministry of Rio Grande do Sul.

Mellon Foundation to fund CRL Archive Analysis

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation recently awarded the Center for Research Libraries major funding to expand analysis and planning on an international level for archiving and strategic digitisation in two areas of library collecting - print journals and newspapers. Funding of $848,000 over a two-year period will enable CRL to further collect and analyse granular data on archiving and digitisation efforts in these two areas, promoting coordinated, strategic action by libraries and consortia.
