Oxford University Press launches new journal, National Science Review

Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP) has announced the launch of a new journal, National Science Review (NSR). Under the auspices of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, NSR is a new journal aimed at reviewing cutting-edge developments across science and technology in China and around the world.

ProQuest solutions named finalists in SIIA Awards

Information resources and technologies provider ProQuest has announced that four of its content and technology solutions are finalists for the 2014 SIIA CODiE Award. The SIIA CODiE Awards claim to be the industry's only peer-reviewed awards program. The first round review of all nominees is conducted by media, publishing, and information services executives with considerable industry expertise, including members of the industry, analysts, media and bloggers, and bankers and investors.

ScienceOpen and Altmetric collaborate to provide top-level alternative metrics data for over 1 million open access articles

Research and publishing network ScienceOpen and Altmetric are collaborating to provide top-level alternative metrics data for over 1 million open access articles in the natural sciences and medicine which are now available on the new platform ScienceOpen.com. The collaboration between the two start-up ventures based in London and Boston/Berlin was announced by Altmetric CEO Euan Adie and ScienceOpen CEO Stephanie Dawson.

Open Access journal Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology accepted for indexing by Thomson Reuters

The Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology journal has been accepted for indexing by Thomson Reuters. Following its acceptance by Scopus in 2013, this journal will soon be indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and Current Contents/Physical, Chemical & Earth Sciences (CC/PC&ES), beginning with volume 1(1) 2011. The journal, currently in its 4th volume, is a peer-reviewed open access journal pertaining to InTech's portfolio of openly accessible STM journals.

Society for Neuroscience set to launch new OA journal in the field of neuroscience

The Society for Neuroscience (SfN) has announced plans to launch a new, open access (OA), online-only journal to serve the field of neuroscience. The journal, expected to launch as early as fall 2014, will provide a fully open access, rapid publication option for neuroscientists, adding another high-quality publishing venue available through the field's leading non-profit scientific society.

Howard Ratner named Executive Director of CHOR, Inc.

Howard Ratner, well known in the scholarly publishing community for his leadership work in technical services and standards, has been appointed as Executive Director of the new CHOR, Inc. not-for-profit organisation. As Director of Development, Ratner successfully led the CHORUS (Clearinghouse for the Open Research of the United States) proof of concept - a conceptual design framework - and in less than two months, launched the CHORUS pilot, the first service from CHOR, Inc.

Baker & Taylor appoints industry veteran George Coe as CEO and President

Baker & Taylor, a distributor of digital and physical books, has announced that its board of directors has named long time executive George Coe as the company's new Chief Executive Officer and President. Coe brings 34 years of extensive experience leading and transitioning companies to becoming leaders within their industries. He will succeed Arnie Wight, who retired January 15 after a distinguished 34-year career with the company.
