BioMed Central and Chilean Biology Society partner to publish Biological Research |
Open access publisher BioMed Central has announced that Biological Research, the official journal of the Chilean Biology Society (Sociedad de Biología de Chile) has joined the BioMed Central portfolio in 2014. Originally named Archivos de Biología y Medicina Experimentales, Biological Research was founded in 1964. For 49 years the journal has been dedicated to publishing articles across the scope of experimental biology. More

SAGE announces new editors for Urban Affairs Review journal |
Academic publisher SAGE has announced the appointment of Jered Carr of University of Missouri, Kansas City, Peter Burns of Loyola University of New Orleans, Annette Steinacker of Loyola University of Chicago, and Antonio Tavares of University of Minho, Portugal as the new Editors-in-Chief of Urban Affairs Review (UAR). Library Copyright Alliance submits comments on copyright reform to Commerce Department |
On January 8, the Library Copyright Alliance submitted additional comments on the US Department of Commerce "green paper," Copyright Policy, Creativity, and Innovation in the Digital Economy (PDF), following a public meeting held by the Commerce Department in December. The post-meeting comments focus on four issues: the recent fair use court decision in the case Bouchat v. Baltimore Ravens, digital preservation, remixes, and collective rights organisations. More

De Gruyter announces reorganisation of its imprints |
Academic publishing house De Gruyter has announced the reorganisation of its imprints following the successful integration of Akademie and Oldenbourg Wissenschaftsverlag. As of January 2014, all titles in the fields of history, economics, computer science, and German-language engineering will be published under the 'De Gruyter Oldenbourg' brand. In addition, titles that are produced in cooperation with a scientific academy will appear under the 'De Gruyter Akademie Forschung' imprint. More
