Rapid global adoption validates demand by libraries for a comprehensive collection assessment service

University libraries worldwide will be implementing a new best in class collection analytics service from ProQuest. Launched late last year, IntotaTM Assessment provides tools that enable libraries to showcase the value of their collections and demonstrate return on investment for their collection budget. The company reported strong market response to this new service, reinforcing a solution strategy that addresses the pain points libraries face with collection management.

IOS Press launches new OA journal - Journal of Facade Design and Engineering

STM publisher IOS Press has announced the launch of the Journal of Facade Design and Engineering, an open access journal, edited by Prof.Dr.Ing. Ulrich Knaack and Dr. Ing. Tillmann Klein, from Delft Technical University, the Netherlands. The journal is primarily a scientific journal, but explicitly invites papers which focus on the dissemination of science into practice and industrial innovations.

PMPH-USA announces publication of Hepatobiliary Cancer

Medical publishing house PMPH-USA has announced the publication of Hepatobiliary Cancer edited by Yuman Fong of Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Jia-hong Dong of the Chinese PLA General Hospital in Beijing, China, both internationally recognized for their research and expertise in liver and biliary surgery. Section editors are Ghassan Abou-Alfa and Gary E. Deng of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Dr. Damian Dupuy of the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University.

Society for General Microbiology launches new OA journal, JMM Case Reports

The Society for General Microbiology (SGM) has announced the launch of JMM Case Reports, its first new journal in almost 50 years. The new journal is open access and online-only, publishing original case reports on medical, dental and veterinary microbiology and infectious diseases. Professor S. Peter Borriello, from the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (UK), and Dr Johannes G. Kusters, from the University Medical Centre at the University of Utrecht, will serve as the Editors-in-Chief of the journal.

National Library of Russia goes live with Ex Libris Primo and Aleph integrated library system

Ex Libris Group has announced that the National Library of Russia (NLR) has gone live with the Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution and the Ex Libris Aleph integrated library system, which replace their locally developed system. In a move that consolidates over 25 databases under one umbrella, the NLR is now able to offer its users the comprehensive, relevant discovery experience enjoyed by over 2,000 institutions worldwide that are using Primo.

De Gruyter consolidates all OA publications under a new imprint: De Gruyter Open

Academic publishing house De Gruyter is consolidating all OA publications under a new imprint: De Gruyter Open. The publisher Versita, which was acquired by De Gruyter in 2012, will be fully subsumed under the new imprint. In 2014 De Gruyter Open will be expanded beyond Europe to the United States and Asia.

The CLOCKSS Archive has partnered with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory to preserve the preprint server for the life sciences BioR?iv and the ejournals of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press in CLOCKSS's geographically and geopolitically distributed network of redundant archive nodes, located at 12 major research libraries around the world. This action ensures that the content created and curated by the Laboratory will always be available despite 'triggering' events such as damage to hosting services or journal discontinuation.

CCC announces Bryn Mawr College as the 200th academic institution to adopt its Get It Now service

Licensing and content solutions provider Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC) has announced Bryn Mawr College as the 200th academic institution to adopt and implement the Get It Now service since its launch in 2011. Furthermore, Get It Now, which was selected as a 2013 Top Product by readers of University Business magazine, has added 11 publishers, bringing the total number participating in the award-winning service to almost 100.
