SPARC welcomes directive mooting open access to publicly funded research

SPARC has applauded US President Obama for issuing a directive to ensure that the results of taxpayer-funded research are made available to the public to freely access and fully use. The potential economic benefits are estimated to be in the hundreds of billions of dollars.

Wiley launches Journal of Medical Radiation Sciences combining The Radiographer and Shadows

John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has announced the launch of Journal of Medical Radiation Sciences (JMRS), combining The Radiographer from the Australian Institute of Radiography and Shadows from the New Zealand Institute of Medical Radiation Technology (NZIMRT). The new, combined journal joins Wiley as part of the Wiley Open Access program.

The University of Chicago Press will partner with Oxford University Press to launch Chicago Scholarship Online on OUP's University Press Scholarship Online (UPSO) platform. Chicago Scholarship Online will launch in February 2013 providing instant and comprehensive access to the full text of nearly 300 titles of the highest academic quality in 5 subjects.

Submissions for 2013 BERA/SAGE Practitioner Research Awards called for

Academic publisher SAGE and the British Educational Research Association (BERA) have announced the opening of submissions for the 2013 BERA/SAGE Practitioner Research Awards. There are two separate awards: an award for research-based practice in under 18 settings, and an award for research-based practice in over 18 settings. The awards support and encourage excellence in the application of research in practice.
