ICA selects Health Language to support new addition to its health information exchange platform

Information services provider Wolters Kluwer Health (WK Health) has announced that ICA has selected Health Language to support its health information exchange (HIE) platform. Health Language medical terminology management software and services will enable ICA to create longitudinal patient records and enhance reporting and analytics across entire populations.

Elsevier Foundation, others give awards for women scientists in developing countries

Five medical and life science researchers from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean Basin received the 2013 Elsevier Foundation Awards for Early Career Women Scientists in the Developing World. The recognition was for work contributing to life-saving knowledge and therapies worldwide.

SRU approved as OASIS Standard

The Search and Retrieve via URL (SRU) 2.0 has been approved as a standard by the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS). SRU is the web-based successor to Z39.50. OASIS is a not-for-profit consortium that drives the development, convergence and adoption of open standards for the global information society.

Higher education institutions in Brazil and Saudi Arabia gain access to Gale's National Geographic Virtual Library

Gale, part of Cengage Learning, has announced the signing of license agreements that will enable higher education institutions throughout Brazil and Saudi Arabia to access Gale's National Geographic Virtual Library. The national agreements in Brazil and Saudi Arabia were funded respectively by the Brazilian Federal Agency for the Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES), and by the Saudi Digital Library.

Aviation Week announces new appointments, expands editorial team

Aviation Week, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, has announced that veteran aviation journalists Tony Osborne and Cathy Buyck are the latest members of the international team of editors at Aviation Week, while Frankfurt-based Jens Flottau has been promoted to lead the Commercial Aviation team. Osborne joins as the new London Bureau Chief, and Buyck will serve as contributing editor from a newly opened bureau in Brussels.
