Clarivate Analytics and Hitachi partner to launch new solution to improve efficiency of global patent research, review and evaluation processes in Japan

Clarivate Analytics plc, a global leader in providing trusted insights and analytics to accelerate the pace of innovation, and Hitachi, Ltd. have announced the launch of a new solution in Japan, which is designed to streamline research and evaluation of worldwide patent documents. Customers of Hitachi's Shareresearch, a market-leading Japanese patent information search platform for Intellectual Property (IP) and R&D teams, will now have the option to access Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI) content translated into Japanese within the platform.

Emerald acquires Journal of Mental Illness

Academic publisher Emerald Publishing has acquired Mental Illness journal; publishing the latest advances in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness, from PAGEPress Scientific Publishing. The new acquisition complements Emerald's existing portfolio of journals in Health and Social Care by expanding their mental health coverage and diversifying their product offerings to include psychiatry and clinical health.

NISO publishes Recommended Practice on Improved Access to Institutionally-Provided Information Resources

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) has published a new Recommended Practice on Improved Access to Institutionally-Provided Information Resources. This NISO Recommended Practice provides recommendations for using federated identity as an access model and improving the federated authentication user experience, arising from the Resource Access for the 21st Century (RA21) initiative.

Clinical geneticist Dr. Huw Dorkins named new Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Medical Genetics

Dr Huw Dorkins has been appointed as the new Editor in Chief of one of BMJ's specialist journals, the Journal of Medical Genetics. This international, peer-reviewed journal covers original research in human genetics and includes reviews and opinions on the latest developments in the field of genetics. Currently serving as the Fellow & Tutor in Medicine at St Peter's College in Oxford, Dr Dorkins is a clinical geneticist at the Leicestershire Genetics Service, Leicester, UK, with interests in the areas of cancer genetics, neurogenetics and genetics education.

Future Science Group publishes inaugural issue new OA journal, Future Drug Discovery

Future Science Group (FSG) has announced the publication of the first issue of its new open access journal, Future Drug Discovery. Published quarterly, the journal provides a forum for discussion of the state of the drug discovery field, alongside research, review and methodology articles. The journal is led by an international, expert advisory board including Jayanth Panyam (University of Minnesota, MN, USA), Steve Rees (Astrazeneca, Cambridge, UK) and Neil Jones (Cancer Research UK, London, UK), among other leading names in the field.

ALCTS Publishing releases first guide in new monographs series
