Cornell University joins Toward an Open Monograph Ecosystem initiative

The Association of American Universities (AAU), the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), and the Association of University Presses (AUPresses) welcomed Cornell University to the Toward an Open Monograph Ecosystem initiative. This pilot effort aims to support the digital publication of peer-reviewed scholarly books by participating university presses, allowing the free publication of these works online and broadly improving access to these works by scholars and the public.

Toxicology Research joins Oxford University Press portfolio

Toxicology Research, the official journal of the British Toxicology Society and the Chinese Society of Toxicology, has joined the Oxford University Press (OUP) portfolio. The journal publishes multidisciplinary high-impact research in fundamental, translational and applied areas of toxicology. Oxford University Press is in discussion with the British Toxicology Society and the Chinese Society of Toxicology regarding their future relationship.

KAUST and the Royal Society of Chemistry sign Read & Publish agreement

The Royal Society of Chemistry has agreed to a new Read & Publish deal with the King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST), in Saudi Arabia, becoming the 10th country with which a deal has been agreed with. The Read & Publish model allows articles published in Royal Society of Chemistry journals to be made publicly available at the time of publication, at no further direct cost to the author.

Bruce Heterick named Senior VP of Open Collections & Infrastructure

Bruce Heterick, ITHAKA Vice President of Institutional Participation and Strategic Partnerships, has been named Senior Vice President, Open Collections & Infrastructure. In his new role, Bruce will lead the efforts to work with libraries and consortia to accelerate the availability and utility of openly accessible collections by enabling them to digitize, upload, catalogue, publish, and preserve their materials on the JSTOR platform.
