Springer Nature publishes study for a CERN next generation circular collider

Back in January, CERN released a conceptual report outlining preliminary designs for a Future Circular Collider (FCC), which if built, would have the potential to be the most powerful particle collider the world over. Earlier this month, attendees of the 2019 FCC week in Brussels got the first look at what this could look like with the release of the four volume FCC study conceptual design report (CDR). In a special ceremony, on the first day of the conference, Christian Caron, Executive Editor for the European Physical Journal (EPJ) at Springer Nature, handed over the four volumes to Fabiola Gianotti, CERN's Director General; Frédérick Bordry, CERN's Director of Accelerators & Technologies; and Michael Benedikt, FCC study leader.

Elsevier announces Peter Schultz as the winner of the 2019 Tetrahedron Prize

Elsevier, a global information analytics business specialising in science and health, and the Board of Executive Editors of Elsevier's Tetrahedron journal series, have announced that the 2019 Tetrahedron Prize for Creativity in Organic Chemistry has been awarded to Professor Peter Schultz, President and CEO of the Scripps Institute, La Jolla, CA, USA. Prof. Schultz receives this year's award for his advances in fields of chemical biology and drug discovery.

Web of Science Group appoints Anand Desai as Research Office Policy and Assessment Advisor for the Institute for Scientific Information

The Web of Science Group, a Clarivate Analytics company, has appointed Dr Anand Desai to the new role of Research Policy and Assessment Advisor for the Institute for Scientific Information. At the Web of Science Group, he will be responsible for developing and delivering a strategic approach to policy and assessment services for institutions, funders, and governments. The new post will form a vital role in the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) which builds on the work of Dr. Eugene Garfield - the founder of the ISI and a pioneer of information science.

ProQuest enhances its OASIS catalog with bibliographic information from Bowker Books In Print service

ProQuest has announced the enrichment of its OASIS catalog with bibliographic information from the Bowker Books In Print service. Bowker, a ProQuest affiliate, is the world's leading provider of bibliographic information. With the enrichment of Books in Print metadata, the vast OASIS database has grown to more than 39 million print titles, 2 million electronic books and 36,000 streaming videos.

Hungarian publisher Akadémiai Kiadó to promote Open Access journals on ScienceOpen

CRL transfers Canadiana.org Trustworthy Digital Repository certification to CRKN

The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) had announced that the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) has transferred the Canadiana.org Trustworthy Digital Repository (TDR) certification to CRKN. This transfer is a result of the merger between CRKN and Canadiana.org in April 2018. The Canadiana TDR was first certified in 2015 and is one of only six certified Trustworthy Digital Repositories in the world.
