Elsevier suspends University of California's access to new articles

The University of California recently lost access to new articles in the publishing giant Elsevier's journals. This is reportedly the latest development in the ongoing negotiations between Elsevier and the University of California (UC) for a new licensing agreement. UC's previous contract with the publisher lapsed at the end of 2018.

UC San Diego and Texas Digital Library announce data preservation partnership

UC San Diego has announced a partnership with a coalition of Texas colleges and universities to develop a national digital preservation service for sensitive and private data. The partnership between the UCSD library and the Texas Digital Library is intended to shore up a weak spot for libraries that hold sensitive personal or health information in their custody. According to UCSD, libraries and archives currently have preservation networks for all content types except sensitive and private data.

EDP Sciences appoints Isabelle Auffret-Babak as Publishing Editor

EDP Sciences has announced that Isabelle Auffret-Babak has joined the editorial team as Publishing Editor. She will primarily focus her efforts on the development of 4open, one of EDP Sciences' flagship journals supporting open science. Additionally, she will support experienced colleagues in growing EDP Sciences' journals and collection of books in physics, especially in the areas of atomic and molecular physics and optics.

IJIC and Project Management Institute announce new partnership

The International Journal of Instructional Cases (IJIC) and Project Management Institute (PMI) have announced a new development in their existing partnership to meet the lack of a professional publication outlet for concise teaching cases in project management for academic and professional use. Both organisations will collaborate to establish a track within IJIC dedicated to concise teaching cases in project management (including operations, logistics, supply chain management, and other related subcategories).
