Funding Bodies sign open letter in support of ORCID

ORCID has announced the launch of an open letter in support of the use of ORCID identifiers (iDs) in the grant application and reporting process. Nine funding bodies around the world have signed the letter - and are inviting others to join them - to indicate their support for 'the use of ORCID iDs in grant application and/or reporting workflows and to implement ORCID in accordance with best practice guidelines for funders.'

SAGE Publishing invests in Thusly to launch TagWorks crowd annotation software into academic research market

Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has made a major seed investment in Thusly Inc., a technology start-up creating research tools for big data analysis of document archives. The investment is the first for SAGE as part of its SAGE Ocean initiative, and will support the launch of Thusly's TagWorks crowd annotation software into the academic research market.

LSC Communications and Elsevier sign multi-year agreement to provide book fulfillment and distribution services in the US

LSC Communications has announced a multi-year agreement with Elsevier, the global information analytics business specialising in science and health. LSC currently prints a significant share of Elsevier's books and journals and, under the new agreement, will begin providing book fulfillment and distribution services in 2019 for Elsevier's US markets.

BMJ to publish International Journal of Gynecological Cancer from January 2019

Healthcare knowledge provider BMJ will start publishing the International Journal of Gynecological Cancer from January 2019. The journal publishes evidence-based content on the detection, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancerous growths in women and includes peer-reviewed original research, reviews and opinion pieces on topics such as ovarian cancer, cervical cancer and diagnostics.
