China set to become global leader in AI research, says new Elsevier report Elsevier, the information analytics business specialising in science and health, has released a new study, according to which, China is growing in importance as a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) research, and there is an increasing trend of researchers moving from academia to industry, especially in the United States. This first-of-its-kind analysis charts Artificial Intelligence research trends across the world, with a focus on China, Europe and the United States, and finds a global 'brain drain' from academia to the private sector. Created in partnership with F1000, the platform, which is new and pioneering for the social sciences community, offers authors immediate publication followed by transparent open peer review, and supports an open data policy. This means all data sets - as well as the research - will become freely available to reuse, repurpose, and redistribute. Initially this will include over 1000 backlist books from University of Michigan Press and around 80 new titles a year for direct sale to libraries.
