BMC launches formal portable peer review policy on BMC Biology

BMC, the first publisher to openly post named peer reviewer reports alongside articles, has announced the launch of a formal portable peer review policy on BMC Biology. The policy aims to speed up the peer review process and decrease waste in publishing. The new Transfers and Portable Reviews Policy can be found on the BMC Biology website.

IOP Publishing and the Korean Society for Composite Materials partner to launch a new journal – Functional Composites and Structures

IOP Publishing and the Korean Society for Composite Materials (KSCM) have announced a partnership to launch a new journal - Functional Composites and Structures (FCS). The journal is now open for submissions. Prof. Woong-Ryeol Yu from Seoul National University (Republic of Korea) will serve as the new journal's Editor-in-Chief.

BMJ and ScienceOpen partner to promote open science

Healthcare knowledge provider BMJ has announced that its new open access journal, BMJ Open Science, has joined ScienceOpen to promote best practices in preclinical and basic biomedical research with an interactive featured collection on the platform. To increase rigor, transparency and reproducibility in biomedical research, BMJ Open Science fosters a range of open science practices from open protocols and peer review practices to Research Resource Identifiers (RRIDs).

IOS Press relaunches online open access forum - StemBook

STM publisher IOS Press has announced the relaunch and revitalisation of StemBook, an online open access forum and discussion platform for the stem cell research community. It features a collection of content covering a range of topics related to stem cell biology written by top researchers in the field. The stembook.org site is being refreshed with new content that will be expanded and updated regularly.
