Elsevier partners with health professionals to launch new event highlighting clinical decision support, AI and big data in the hospital

Elsevier, the information analytics business specializing in science and health, is organising a symposium dedicated to Clinical Decision Support Systems (CDSS), entitled Clinical Decision Support System, Artificial Intelligence and Big Data in the Hospital: Impacts and Limitations Seen by Physicians. The event will take place on December 11, 2018, at the Maison des Polytechniciens.

OUP and the Max Planck Society announce combined open access and subscription deal

Academic publisher Oxford University Press and the Max Planck Society have announced a new two-year deal, which includes a significant open access element, to provide access to OUP's prestigious journal collection for all Max Planck Society members. The deal comes into effect on January 1, 2019 and lasts until the end of 2020.

BMC, Research Square and Hypothesis collaborate to promote transparency, early sharing and enable community feedback during peer review

BMC, Research Square, and Hypothesis have announced a new collaboration designed to promote transparency, early sharing, and encourage community feedback through annotation during the peer review process. In keeping with its long history in experimentation around new types of peer review, BMC has partnered with Research Square to develop 'In Review', a platform for showcasing manuscripts submitted to four BMC titles: Trials, BMC Anesthesiology, BMC Ophthalmology and BMC Neurology.

eLife appoints three new Senior Editors to its leadership team

eLife has appointed three new Senior Editors to its leadership team, supporting submissions in some of the open-access journal's growing research areas. Eduardo Franco from McGill University, Neil Ferguson from Imperial College London, and Cynthia Wolberger from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine bring expertise in their respective fields of cancer epidemiology, infectious disease epidemiology and biophysics.

Elementa: Science of the Anthropocene announces new bilingual collection, Cuba's Agrifood System in Transition

Elementa: Science of the Anthropocene, a trans-disciplinary, open-access journal, has announced Cuba's Agrifood System in Transition, a new collection of research aimed at amplifying the voices of Cuban experts and fostering exchange and dialogue on sustainable agrifood practices, in the island nation and beyond. This collection launches with eight articles, published in both Spanish and English, and from Cuban and non-Cuban researchers, practitioners and policy makers, examining the social, economic and ecological strategies necessary for a sustainable agrifood system, and detailing the opportunities and barriers to scaling up agroecology in Cuba and beyond.
