ALPSP member briefing on Plan S

Science Europe recently announced Plan S, a proposal for the transition of European-funded research to a fully open access environment, in line with the principles of open science. The plan is supported by 11 European national funding councils, joined by the European Commission and the European Research Council (ERC). As the requirements for the implementation of Plan S are developed, supporting funders are being encouraged to engage with stakeholders, in particular learned societies, given the critical importance of publishing programmes to the vitality of their disciplines and communities.

American Physical Society releases new physics classification scheme, PhySH

The American Physical Society (APS) has announced that PhySH, APS's new physics classification scheme, is now publicly available under a Creative Commons CC0 license. Created to provide a fully open, high-quality classification scheme for the entire physics community, PhySH groups concepts into a flexible hierarchy that organises content by topics.

PKP and SciELO to develop open source Preprint Server system

The Public Knowledge Project (PKP) and SciELO Program have announced an agreement to develop a Preprint Server system on the principles that have guided these two organisations over the last two decades. The organisations plan to collaborate on the building of a Preprint Server system fully interoperable with Open Journal System (OJS) and other publishing systems that will serve SciELO Network journals and that will be made publicly available to other organisations to operate.

Reprints Desk and Digital Science partner to provide intelligent citation references and journal article stats

Research Solutions, Inc., a provider of cloud-based workflow solutions for R&D driven organisations, has announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Reprints Desk and technology company Digital Science have forged an agreement bringing together the power of two research tools: Article Galaxy and Dimensions.
