China is consolidating position as scientific powerhouse, reveals Nature Index 2018 Rising Stars supplement

The Nature Index 2018 Rising Stars supplement reveals that Chinese institutions are leading the world in rapidly increasing high-quality research outputs. 51 of the top 100 most improved institutions across the globe are from this scientific powerhouse, with 28 of those showing growth above 50 percent since 2015. The US is second, with 20 institutions in the top 100 despite many starting from a high base. Four institutions feature from Germany, and only two are from the UK.

Clarivate Analytics names 17 researchers as Citation Laureates

Clarivate Analytics, a leader in providing trusted insights and analytics to enable researchers to accelerate discovery, has named 17 world-class researchers as Citation Laureates - researchers whose work is deemed to be, 'of Nobel stature', as attested by markedly high citation tallies recorded in the Web of Science citation index. Each year since 2002, analysts at Clarivate Analytics have drawn on Web of Science publication and citation data to identify influential researchers in the research areas recognised by Nobel Prizes: Physiology or Medicine, Physics, Chemistry, and Economics.
