Wiley and British Academy announce winners of 2018 Wiley Prizes in Economics and Psychology

John Wiley & Sons Inc., a global research and education company, and the British Academy have announced the winners of the 2018 Wiley Prize in Economics and the Wiley Prize in Psychology. The annual Wiley Prize in Economics, made in partnership with the British Academy, rewards achievement in research for an outstanding early career economist with a prize of £5,000.

AAAS launches Center for Scientific Evidence in Public Issues

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the non-profit publisher of the Science family of journals, has announced the launch of the Center for Scientific Evidence in Public Issues, which will bring clearly and strategically communicated information to decision makers from policymakers to parents - and to others who influence them, when they need it most. The new Center will address important policy issues that are at the forefront of public conversation and involve a broad range of audiences -from the federal executive and legislative branches to state and local governments, the judiciary and private citizens.

NEJM Group announces retirement of Jeffrey Drazen

NEJM Group, publisher of premier medical resources for research, education and professional practice, has announced that Jeffrey M. Drazen, Editor-in-Chief of the New England Journal of Medicine, will retire within the next year. To ensure a smooth transition, Drazen will continue to lead the Journal and NEJM Group until a successor is named.

Research technology company Digital Science and the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) have launched The Ohio Innovation Exchange (OIEx). The new online platform connects industry with faculty, students, equipment, and facilities available at Ohio's research universities. OIEx consolidates these academic resources from multiple universities into a single, searchable, and easily accessible web portal.

OCLC announces East View Information Services as new material provider for WorldCat cataloguing partner collections

Non-profit global library cooperative OCLC has announced East View Information Services as a new material provider for WorldCat cataloguing partner collections available in WorldShare Collection Manager. East View Information Services is headquartered in Minneapolis, with major offices in Russia and Ukraine, and is a provider of native and translated foreign language information products, including Russian, Chinese, and Arabic materials.

American Chemical Society expands applied materials portfolio with two new journals

In response to the growing community of interdisciplinary research in materials science, the Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) has announced two new additions to the ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces family of peer-reviewed journals. Launching in late 2018, ACS Applied Electronic Materials and ACS Applied Polymer Materials will publish original research covering all aspects of electronic materials and polymers, respectively, emphasising applied work across the fields of chemistry, biology, engineering and physics.

CCC partners with Frankfurt Book Fair 2018 to highlight the ideas changing the publishing world

Copyright Clearance Center (CCC) has announced a partnership with The Frankfurt Book Fair. This year at the fair, CCC will help shine a spotlight on the market pressures driving the publishing industry, including big data, open access, research, technological innovation and copyright. As part of the partnership, CCC will participate in talks throughout the week, including 'Getting on the Road to Intelligent Content: No Time Like the Present,' scheduled for October 10, 11:30 -12:00 at the Education Stage (Hall 4.2 C 94).

ProQuest has announced that 36,000 titles from Alexander Street's platform are now available on the OASIS® platform, allowing academic librarians to acquire videos in the same workflow they use to order books. Adoption of blockchain on the rise, lack of skilled staff hampering its development in the life science industry, says new Pistoia Alliance survey

The Pistoia Alliance, a global, not-for-profit alliance that works to lower barriers to innovation in life sciences R&D, has announced the results of a survey on the adoption of blockchain in the pharmaceutical and life science industries. According to the survey, 60 percent of pharmaceutical and life science professionals are either using or experimenting with blockchain today, compared to 22 percent when asked in 2017; however, 40 percent are not currently looking at implementing, or have no plans to implement blockchain.
