Elsevier announces publication of new content for the oil and gas industry

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the publication of new content for the oil and gas industry, including Getenergy Guide Education and Training for the Oil and Gas Industry: Case Studies in Partnership and Collaboration by Phil Andrews and Jim Playfoot. This new book will be featured at Getenergy Global 2014, June 2-4, 2014 in London. Four additional books were also published, expanding the depth of content available from Elsevier for the oil and gas industry.

EBSCO Health unveils Pediatric clinical information mobile app

EBSCO Health, part of EBSCO Information Services, has announced the availability of a mobile app designed specifically for pediatricians, emergency department physicians, physicians-in-training and other medical providers caring for children with acute illnesses and injury. The PEMSoft Mobile app gives doctors access to vital evidence-based pediatric information wherever they are.

ORCID Outreach Meeting highlights integrations, use cases and outreach at universities and professional societies

ORCID, a non-profit organisation that provides an open registry of unique identifiers for researchers, held its twelfth bi-annual Outreach Meeting, hosted by the University of Illinois in Chicago, on May 21-22, 2014. About 160 individuals from around the world participated. This outreach meeting showcased the integrations, use cases, and outreach efforts at universities and professional societies, including nine Adoption and Integration partner institutions that were supported by a grant to ORCID from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.

Gale adds Wiley titles to e-Book platform

Gale, part of Cengage Learning and a publisher of research and education resources for libraries, schools and businesses, has announced that more than 400 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. e-books are coming to the Gale Virtual Reference Library (GVRL). GVRL is the e-book platform offered by Gale. The new titles include monographs covering in-demand subjects such as business and economics, medicine, computer science, and psychology, and are part of Gale's recently announced effort to expand its e-book offerings for the growing STEM market.

Tbilisi Centre of Mathematical Sciences and De Gruyter Open announce cooperation agreement

The Tbilisi Centre of Mathematical Sciences has entered into a cooperation agreement with open access publisher De Gruyter Open. Under the deal, De Gruyter Open will take over the Tibilisi Mathematical Journal, which, from now, will be available to read, download and share on www.degruyter.com.

Deutsche Entomologische Zeitschrift goes advanced open access with Pensoft

One of the oldest entomological journals Deutsche Entomologische Zeitschrift has announced a new collaboration with Pensoft Publishers to step right into the future with an innovative publishing platform. The first issue for 2014 is now available in a novel open access, semantically enriched format. As a member of Pensoft's family of advanced open access journals, Deutsche Entomologische Zeitschrift now benefits from the innovative semantically enriched open access model, while at the same time keeping the traditional PDF and high quality print versions.

Michigan Publishing unveils Ergo, an Open Access journal on Philosophy

Academic publisher Michigan Publishing has announced the launch of Ergo, an Open Access journal on Philosophy. According to the editors, Ergo responds to a need for general philosophy journals that are efficient, open access, inclusive, and transparent. While maintaining high standards for acceptance, the journal also hopes to begin to address the imbalance in gender and race representation among published authors that is particularly prevalent in philosophy journals.
