Elsevier acquires Amirsys, a healthcare information solutions and content for radiology, pathology, and anatomy provider

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the acquisition of Amirsys. Focused on visually oriented medical disciplines like radiology, pathology and anatomy, Amirsys' global solutions give healthcare providers the expert information and clinical decision support (CDS) tools to make informed, expert and evidence-based diagnoses. Amirsys also provides learning environments that help those training in these disciplines to sharpen their diagnostic skills and increase their knowledge.

Wiley acquires SimBioSys

Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has acquired SimBioSys Inc., a provider of scientific software tools that facilitate the drug discovery process. Terms were not disclosed. SimBioSys is a pioneer in the field of computer-aided retrosynthetic analysis where it supports chemists in the challenges of organic synthesis.

Altmetric's new web-based software application enables HE institutions to track and evaluate online dissemination and impact of authored research

Altmetric, a London-based start-up focused on making article level metrics easy, has announced the release of Altmetric for Institutions, a web-based software application that enables higher educational institutions to track and evaluate the online dissemination and impact of their authored research. Altmetric collates mentions of scholarly articles across traditional and social media, blog posts, reference management tools and post-publication peer review sites.

Royal Society of Chemistry renews cooperation agreement with SAFEA - a division of the Chinese Government

The Royal Society of Chemistry celebrated the renewal of a cooperation agreement with the State Administration for Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA) - a division of the Chinese Government - with an event at Burlington House in London. As part of a wider Chinese governmental initiative to enhance the global impact of Chinese science and of their higher education institutions, the Royal Society of Chemistry and SAFEA provide funding for a visiting researchers programme.

Brill completes acquisition of Editions Rodopi

Scholarly publisher Koninklijke Brill N.V. has closed the acquisition of all shares of Editions Rodopi B.V., Amsterdam. The acquisition includes highly esteemed book series and journals in history, philosophy, theology, social sciences, linguistics, literature, and cultural studies. In total, the publishing list comprises 3,000 book titles, growing by 130 new titles each year, for the most part in the English language, but also in French, German and Spanish.
