34,000 Project MUSE ebooks now available on OASIS Platform

ProQuest has announced that more than 34,000 ebooks from Project MUSE, focused on humanities and social sciences, are now available for title-by-title purchase in the OASIS® platform. These Project MUSE ebooks are all digital rights management (DRM)-free - which means users can access them from any personal device or reader without download, print or copy/paste restrictions.

SPIE and Chinese Laser Press publish inaugural issue of Advanced Photonics

SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, and Chinese Laser Press (CLP), have published the inaugural issue of Advanced Photonics, a collaborative, open-access journal, featuring the most impactful fundamental and applied research across optics and photonics technologies. Articles in the first issue cover exciting and innovative research, from using light-sheet microscopy for imaging of large biomedical specimens and deep learning for digital holography, to real-time spectroscopy for ultrafast fibre laser design and optimisation and a new approach for creating high-Q cavities for trapping light.

American Institute of Physics names Stephen Mackwell as its Deputy Executive Officer

The American Institute of Physics (AIP) has named Stephen Mackwell as its Deputy Executive Officer, effective February 1, 2019. Mackwell is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Geophysical Union and the Mineralogical Society of America. Among AIP Member Societies, he is a member of the American Astronomical Society and is active in its Division of Planetary Sciences.

Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois opts for Ex Libris Alma to support I-Share framework

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI) has selected the Ex Libris Alma® cloud-based library services platform to support the I-Share framework, which will enhance services and expand collaboration among participating institutions. I-Share serves 91 CARLI member institutions, including three ARL members: Southern Illinois University Carbondale, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which has the largest public university library in the US.

EBSCO Information Services seeks applications for 2019 Solar grant program

EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has announced the 2019 EBSCO Solar grant program to help libraries in their sustainability efforts. As part of the EBSCO Solar initiative, EBSCO is soliciting grant applications to give libraries the opportunity to 'go green' by funding solar installations. EBSCO will be accepting submissions from both domestic and international libraries.
