Wiley and Projekt DEAL partner to enhance the future of scholarly research and publishing in Germany

John Wiley & Sons, Inc., a global leader in research and education, has announced a countrywide partnership agreement with Projekt DEAL, a representative of nearly 700 academic institutions in Germany. Under an annual fee, this transformative three-year agreement provides all Projekt DEAL institutions with access to read Wiley's academic journals back to the year 1997, and researchers at Projekt DEAL institutions can publish articles open access in Wiley's journals.

ProQuest named as a preferred supplier in Jisc's digital archival collections group purchasing scheme

ProQuest has been designated as a preferred supplier in Jisc's digital archival collections group purchasing scheme, giving academic institutions improved access to primary-source databases. In 2017, Jisc - a U.K. member organization that provides digital technology and digital resources for higher education - kicked off a group purchasing pilot for digital archival collections. The pilot built on the power of collective purchasing with the goal of lowering customer costs. After the pilot's conclusion, Jisc accepted ProQuest as a preferred supplier through 2022.

NISO Voting Members approve project to develop recommended practice for a compatible taxonomy, definitions, and recognition badging scheme

The National Information Standard Organization (NISO) Voting Members have approved a project to develop a recommended practice pertaining to reproducibility in the computational and computing sciences. This work will examine existing taxonomies and badging schemes to define various levels of reproducibility and communicate these in the publishing process.

AIP Publishing appoints Professor Leslie Yeo as Editor-in-Chief of Biomicrofluidics

AIP Publishing, a not-for-profit scholarly publisher in the physical sciences, has announced the appointment of Leslie Yeo, Distinguished Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) in Melbourne, Australia, as Editor-in-Chief of Biomicrofluidics (BMF). BMF is an online-only journal that rapidly disseminates high-quality, original research in the interdisciplinary field of microfluidics and nanofluidics.

Submissions for PeerJ's five new chemistry journals are now open

Open access publisher PeerJ has announced that submissions are now open for five new journals dedicated to the Chemical Sciences. Researchers can now submit manuscripts to PeerJ, for peer review, to the journals PeerJ Physical Chemistry, PeerJ Organic Chemistry, PeerJ Inorganic Chemistry, PeerJ Analytical Chemistry, and PeerJ Materials Science.
