Swiss National Library selects Ex Libris Alma and Primo

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the Swiss National Library (NL) has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo discovery and delivery solution. The NL decided to replace its legacy integrated library system, VTLS Virtua, with an up-to-date management platform and a publicly accessible search system. Following a competitive, open tender process, the NL opted for the Alma and Primo solutions to provide next-generation library services.

African Academy of Science partners with F1000 to launch AAS Open Research publication platform

The African Academy of Sciences, in partnership with F1000, is launching a publication platform, AAS Open Research, to enable AAS funded and affiliated researchers to publish immediately and without barriers. AAS Open Research will showcase African research on the global stage in an immediate and transparent way.

Kudos unveils shareable PDF solution addressing illegal sharing of copyright content

Kudos, the service for maximizing the reach and impact of research publications, has announced the launch of its shareable PDF solution, which helps publishers prevent copyright infringement and reclaim lost usage from sharing of research articles on scholarly collaboration networks (SCNs). Authors of articles published by the American Thoracic Society, Emerald Publishing, FASEB and The IET can now use Kudos to create summary PDFs of their articles, for uploading to sites like ResearchGate and Academia.edu.

Five journals to move to Presses universitaires de France in 2018

Presses universitaires de France (Puf) will continue publishing four NecPlus journals, which will be released on January 1, 2018 - Enfance, L'Année psychologique, Communication & Langages, and Revue d'études comparatives Est- Ouest (Receo). At the same time, Puf will also publish the Archives juives journal. These journals will be available in hard copy and in an electronic version on cairn.info, which will provide access, if necessary, to all the archives previously available on necplus.eu. Puf will oversee subscriptions.

ARL Board of Directors appoint Anne R. Kenney as interim executive director

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) Board of Directors has appointed Anne R. Kenney as interim executive director of the Association, effective January 1, 2018. Active in the profession, Kenney is an international leader in digitisation of library collections. She served as a fellow and president of the Society of American Archivists, co-authored three award-winning monographs and more than 50 articles and reports, and was awarded the American Library Association Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award in 2014.
