Elsevier and WiserCare partner to offer patients personalised shared decision making with trusted, consistent patient information

Elsevier, the information analytics business specialising in science and health, and WiserCare have entered into a strategic relationship to offer health systems WiserCare's Shared Decision Making (SDM) solution as part of the Elsevier Patient Engagement suite of solutions. WiserCare's SDM solution helps patients and their families express their values and preferences, review personalised risks and benefits of treatment options, prepare for meetings with clinicians, and make personal healthcare decisions.

Committee on Publication Ethics announces changes to its Code of Conduct and new policy on expulsions

The Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) recently announced changes to its Code of Conduct as well as a new policy on sanctions against member journal editors and publishers that do not follow their 'principles.' Both of these documents provide very helpful advice on how to organise and run a professional journal. The Code of Conduct includes 'must do' items for members as well as 'aspirational' suggested best practices.

Chalmers University of Technology to leverage FOLIO library services platform

EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) is teaming up with Chalmers University of Technology to serve as the first FOLIO beta partner. New partnership between Pensoft and BEXIS 2 supports data paper publications

German open source platform BEXIS 2 and academic publisher Pensoft have announced a new partnership, as a result of which, scientists are now able to publish data papers in three of the most innovative Pensoft journals - Biodiversity Data Journal (BDJ), One Ecosystem and Metabarcoding and Metagenomics (MBMG) - using EML data packs from BEXIS 2. The collaboration allows for researchers to easily store, analyse and manage their data via BEXIS 2, before sharing it with the scientific community in a creditable format.

COAR publishes Behaviours and Technical Recommendations of the COAR Next Generation Repositories Working Group report

The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) has published the report, Behaviours and Technical Recommendations of the COAR Next Generation Repositories Working Group. This report presents the results of the work of the Next Generation Repository Working Group, launched in April 2016, including recommendations for the adoption of new technologies, standards, and protocols that will help repositories become more integrated into the web environment and enable them to play a larger role in the scholarly communication ecosystem.

NIH's All of Us Research Program and the National Library of Medicine partner to reach communities through local libraries

The National Institutes of Health's (NIH) All of Us Research Program and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) have teamed up to raise awareness about the program, a landmark effort to advance precision medicine. Through this collaboration, the National Network of Libraries of Medicine has received a $4.5 million award to support community engagement efforts by public libraries across the United States and to improve participant access.

Elsevier updates cutting-edge chemical engineering references in membrane science and metal characterization

Elsevier, the information analytics business specialising in science and health, has announced updates to two comprehensive reference works for chemical engineers and materials scientists - Comprehensive Membrane Science and Engineering, Second Edition, and Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena, Third Edition. Elsevier also announced publication of four additional chemical engineering titles.

Springer collaborates with the Canadian Public Health Association to publish the Canadian Journal of Public Health

Springer, a global scientific, technical and medical portfolio, will collaborate with the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) to publish its official journal, the Canadian Journal of Public Health, beginning January 1, 2018. This new collaboration will allow Springer and the Canadian Public Health Association to work together to streamline publication processes for the journal and disseminate peer-reviewed articles on all aspects of public health to an international audience.
