Altmetric becomes only altmetrics provider to offer up-to-the minute citation counts from Web of Science

Data science company Altmetric has announced the integration of Clarivate Analytics Web of ScienceTM citation data to the Explorer for Institutions (EFI) platform. Altmetric is the only alternative metrics provider to integrate this data, enabling users to compare the academic and broader impacts of a single research output at the click of a button.

AAAS and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation alliance to advance scientific communication and OA publishing

The American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have formed a partnership to advance scientific communication and open access publishing. The partnership will also ensure open access to research funded by the Gates Foundation and published in the Science family of journals.

Elsevier announces publication of five psychology titles

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the publication of Explaining Suicide: Patterns, Motivations, and What Notes Reveal by Cheryl Meyer, Taronish Irani, Katherine Hermes and Betty Yung. It is the first large-scale analysis of suicide motivation across multiple ages in the same time period, made possible via a unique dataset of all suicide notes collected by the coroner's office in southwestern Ohio from 2000 through 2009. At the same time, Elsevier announced publication of four additional psychology books.

190 academic institutions in Turkey and North Cyprus gain access to Emerald's eJournals Premier Collection

Academic publisher Emerald Publishing has signed a three-year agreement with the Turkish Academic Network and Information Centre (ULAKBIM) – a division of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) - to provide 190 academic institutions in Turkey and North Cyprus with access to Emerald's eJournal Premier Collection. Emerald's eJournal Premier collection is its most comprehensive, cross-disciplinary journal database, featuring the latest peer-reviewed, international research in both established and emerging areas of interest.

The Institution of Engineering and Technology receives BIC Basic award and Onix 3.0 badge

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has been awarded the BIC Basic award for Product Data Excellence under the Book Industry Communications (BIC) accreditation scheme as well as receiving the Onix 3.0 badge. The IET is one of just a handful of publishers that have been accredited under the scheme to date.

ACCUCOMS and American Society for Microbiology expand current agreement

ACCUCOMS and the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) have announced that the parties have added Eastern Europe to the sales representation territories and have agreed to a multi-year extension of the current agreement. Since February 2016, ACCUCOMS has been assisting ASM with growing subscription sales in South East Asia, India, the Middle East, North Africa, South Korea and Taiwan.
