Elsevier set to publish official journal of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing

STM publisher Elsevier and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) have announced that Elsevier will publish NCSBN's flagship journal, Journal of Nursing Regulation. Maryann Alexander, Chief Officer, Nursing Regulation, National Council of State Boards of Nursing, Chicago, Illinois, USA, serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

Springer Nature acquires Stuttgart-based publishing house J.B. Metzler, expands humanities portfolio

Springer Nature and the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group have agreed that, effective immediately, the Stuttgart-based publishing house J.B. Metzler will become part of Springer Nature. The acquisition follows the recent combination of the majority of Macmillan Science and Education (owned by the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group) with Springer Science+Business Media, to form the new publishing group, Springer Nature.

Wiley announces strong performance in 2015 Journal Citation Reports release

Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has announced a strong performance in Thomson Reuters® 2015 Journal Citation Reports (JCR) release. A total of 1,200 Wiley titles (approximately 70%) were indexed, with 11 titles indexed for the first time. Over 73% of society titles at Wiley achieved an Impact Factor.

Jisc works with universities and researchers to reap benefits offered from OA practice

Jisc is working to help universities and researchers reap the benefits offered from OA practice in response to the recent OA policy review by Research Councils UK (RCUK) and the release of the Higher Education and Funding Council's (HEFCE) updated requirements for next year's Research Excellence Framework (REF). There are many benefits offered from an OA model, increased author visibility and improved accessibility to research outputs to name a few.

ACMG announces increase in impact factor of its medical genetics and genomics journal, Genetics in Medicine

The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) has announced an increase in the impact factor of its peer-reviewed medical genetics and genomics journal, Genetics in Medicine (GIM) to 7.329 in 2014, up from 6.435 in 2013. GIM is currently ranked 15 of 167 titles in the Genetics & Heredity category and in the very top echelon of genetic journals that have a primarily clinical focus.

Lynn Silipigni Connaway elected President-elect of ASIS&T

OCLC Senior Research Scientist Lynn Silipigni Connaway has been elected President-elect of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) for the 2016 administrative year, and President for 2017. Becoming President-elect at the conclusion of the 2015 Annual Meeting in St. Louis, Missouri, Connaway will support 2016 President Nadia Caidi, University of Toronto, with planning and developing programs and structure.
