Nature Publishing Group and Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences launch first Nature Partner Journal in China

Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SICCAS) has signed an official agreement with Nature Publishing Group to launch the first Nature Partner Journal in China, npj Computational Materials. The open access Nature Partner Journals (NPJ) publish high-quality research in collaboration with world-renowned international partners, and have adopted a modified set of Nature editorial standards.

Professor Joachim Sauer joins the Editorial Board of Journal of Catalysis

STM publisher Elsevier and the editorial team of Journal of Catalysis are delighted to announce that Professor Joachim Sauer of the Humboldt-Universität Berlin has joined Professors Johannes Lercher, Christophe Copéret, Graham Hutchings, Matthew Neurock, Hans Niemantsverdriet, S. Ted Oyama and Fabio Ribeiro as Editor of Journal of Catalysis. Published since 1962, the journal publishes upward of 300 papers each year and its current Impact Factor is 6.073, making it the 4th ranking journal in the ISI category Engineering, Chemical.

Biomedical researchers look to post-publication peer review to build grant funding case

Jason McDermott, a Senior Research Scientist in computational biology and bioinformatics at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, WA, USA, has become one of the first to publish online his preliminary research methodology and data to gain peer reviews that he hopes will strengthen his R01 grant application to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). While the concept of online and transparent peer-reviewing of research is increasingly being adopted, it is unusual for preliminary research to enter the public domain in such a way.

APA to publish new interdisciplinary journal Motivation Science

The American Psychological Association has announced that it will publish Motivation Science, a new interdisciplinary journal featuring significant contributions to the study of motivation. The journal will publish papers on diverse approaches to the science of motivation, including studies from all subfields of psychology, as well as the fields of cognitive science, economics, sociology, management science, organizational science, neuroscience and political science.
