The Open Research and Contributor ID (ORCID) has announced that registration for upcoming ORCID Outreach Meeting is now open. The ORCID Outreach Meeting is a joint conference, organised together with CASRAI, and hosted by the University of Barcelona.

Jisc Digital Festival presents best digital talent under the theme 'connect more'

Teachers, IT managers, librarians, lecturers and research managers from across the UK were given the chance to discuss the positive impact of technology on further and higher education and discover new tools and approaches to its use at this year's Jisc Digital Festival. Held in Birmingham from March 9-10, the largest Digital Festival yet presented the best digital talent under the theme of 'connect more', and featured a diverse line-up of digital innovators and leading technology organisations, including internet giant Google.

AIP Publishing launches ecommerce site powered by Sheridan for print-on-demand conference proceedings

AIP Publishing, a division of the American Institute of Physics (AIP), has launched a branded eCommerce site - printorders.aip.org - to offer print copies of conference proceedings direct to consumers. The solution is an integration of two Sheridan technologies - Sheridan Connect and Sheridan Select.

IU Libraries and partners receive two grants totalling $931,000 from Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

Indiana University has received two grants totalling $931,000 from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support further development of the Avalon Media System and a study of new business models for scholarly publishing. The first of these grants provides $750,000 to the IU Libraries and Northwestern University Library to support continuing development of the Avalon Media System, an open-source software product designed to help libraries and archives provide long-term online access to audio and video collections for primarily academic audiences.
