Publishers' statement on injunctive and declaratory relief in the copyright infringement lawsuit

The US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia recently handed down a ruling on injunctive and declaratory relief in the copyright infringement lawsuit brought by academic publishers against Georgia State University. According to a statement from the publisher plaintiffs the District Court's decision is marred by a number of serious legal errors.

Asian Journal of Psychiatry accepted for indexing in MEDLINE

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that the Asian Journal of Psychiatry, the official scientific journal of the Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations, has been accepted for indexing in Medline and will soon be accessible via PubMed. Indexing through the US National Library of Medicine's (NLM) will be retroactive, beginning with the September 2008 issue (launch issue of the journal).

Wiley journals adopt CC-BY licence allowing commercial use of published articles

Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has announced revised licensing arrangements for proprietary journals published under the Wiley Open Access programme. The journals will adopt the Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) licence which allows commercial use of published articles.

NPG invites submissions for Experimental & Molecular Medicine journal

Scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group (NPG) is inviting submissions for Experimental & Molecular Medicine (EMM) following its publishing partnership with the Korean Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (KSBMB). NPG will co-publish EMM on nature.com from January 2013. Submissions can now be made at www.nature.com/emm.

Fifty seven UK Academic Libraries now participating in Portico

Non-profit electronic archiving service provider Portico has announced the expansion of its digital preservation services to twenty more academic libraries in the UK. This brings the total number of UK participating institutions to fifty-seven. Among the libraries that initiated participation this year are University of Leeds, University of Cambridge and University of Manchester.
