More than 20,000 individual Springer titles now available on Apple's iBookstore

STM publisher Springer Science+Business Media has announced one of the largest scientific, technical and medical (STM) book collections on the iBookstore with more than 20,000 individual Springer titles. Cornerstone works in disciplines like mathematics, medicine and engineering are now available, along with selections in other fields such as business and economics.

Thomson Reuters announces definitive agreement to sell Healthcare Business to Veritas Capital

Business information provider Thomson Reuters has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Healthcare business to an affiliate of Veritas Capital for $1.25 billion in cash. The sale, expected to close in the next few months, is subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.

The European Library Collections and Europeana now discoverable via the Summon Service

Serials Solutions has announced that its Summon Web-scale Discovery service, in cooperation with the Conference of European National Librarians (CENL), will make the vast collections of The European Library and Europeana discoverable in the Summon unified index. Summon users will be able to search across hundreds of millions of records from The European Library as well as Europeana, a repository of digitised assets from across Europe.

OCLC releases executive summary on Social Metadata for Libraries, Archives and Museums

OCLC has released the third report of the Social Metadata for Libraries, Archives, and Museums series. The Executive Summary provides an overview of all reports. The recommendation is that it is riskier to do nothing and become irrelevant to user communities than to start using social media features.

SAGE and Association for Psychological Science launch new journal, Clinical Psychological Science

Academic and professional publisher SAGE and the Association for Psychological Science (APS) have announced the launch of a new peer-reviewed journal - Clinical Psychological Science. This is the APS's fifth scholarly journal, joining Psychological Science, Current Directions in Psychological Science, Psychological Science in the Public Interest and Perspectives on Psychological Science.
