Manchester University Press selects Scope's ConSCIseTM for book and chapter abstracts

Scope e-Knowledge Center (Scope), an SPi Global Company, has announced that they have been selected by the Manchester University Press (MUP) to create book and chapter abstracts for their online publications, which include collections such as Manchester Medieval Sources, Manchester Gothic and Manchester Studies in Imperialism. It is for the first time that MUP has awarded Scope a project of this type.

ACD/Labs announces continued collaboration with ChemSpider

ACD/Labs, an informatics company that develops and commercialises solutions in support of R&D, has announced a continued collaboration with ChemSpider, a leading chemical database owned by the Royal Society of Chemistry, to continue furnishing predicted physicochemical properties and chemical nomenclature to the ever-expanding platform. For over ten years, scientists have accessed this publically-available free resource to gather information on chemical compounds in preparation of research or experimentation.

AAP appoints Matthew Barblan as VP, Public Policy

The Association of American Publishers (AAP) has announced that Matthew Barblan will join AAP as Vice President, Public Policy, beginning August 27, 2018. Barblan is currently Executive Director of the Center for the Protection of Intellectual Property (CPIP) and Assistant Professor of Law at George Mason University.

Digital preservation service Portico has announced that the Journal of the Louisiana State Medical Society is being preserved with Portico, ensuring that their content will be secure and available into the future. Established in 1844, the Journal of the Louisiana State Medical Society is one of the oldest periodicals in the nation.

Applications for 2019 IFLA/OCLC Fellowship Program now being accepted

OCLC and the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) are now accepting applications for library professionals to participate in the 2019 Jay Jordan IFLA/OCLC Early Career Development Fellowship Program. The Fellowship Program, sponsored by IFLA and OCLC, is a four-week program based at OCLC headquarters in Dublin, Ohio, USA, that provides education and professional development opportunities for early career librarians from countries with developing economies. The 2019 program will run from March 16 to April 12, 2019.

Cengage and Quizlet partner to provide Cengage Unlimited subscriptions

Cengage, an education and technology company, and Quizlet, an online learning platform in the US, have announced an agreement to give Cengage Unlimited subscribers free premium access to Quizlet. Cengage Unlimited offers students complete access to more than 22,000 digital products across 70 disciplines and 675 courses.
