New study proposes pragmatic scenario for transitioning the publication system towards Open Access

The Swiss National Science Foundation in collaboration with the Scientific Information programme (SUC P-2) run by swissuniversities has initiated a study, which for the first time, has developed scenarios for restructuring transitioning Switzerland's scientific publication system towards Open Access (OA). The study recommends a model that proposes a pragmatic and flexible way of making publicly funded research freely available at no charge and with no delay.

NEJM Group announces new digital platform to engage with medical community in China

NISO announces new publishers enacting phase two of KBART guidelines

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) has announced that five publishers are now supplying metadata that conforms to phase two of the recommended practice, KBART: Knowledge Bases And Related Tools (NISO RP-9-2014). Conformance with KBART indicates that the format and content of data supplied by these publishers observe practical recommendations for timely exchange between content providers and knowledge base vendors.

The current issue of the Journal of X-Ray Science and Technology now features 3D imaging embedded within its articles for the first time. Use of this digital and multimedia technique enhances the value of five papers, which focus on kidney injuries, tumour diagnoses, and dental medicine. Videos of these rotating 3D images can be accessed directly, allowing readers to examine them in detail and gain deeper understanding of the diagnoses, prognoses, and treatments described.
