Emerald looks to widen scope of its Library & Information Science journals to address new trends, appoints a number of new editors

Academic publisher Emerald Group Publishing has announced changes to some of its key Library & Information Science journals. According to Eileen Breen, Publisher at Emerald, Library Science is becoming more interdisciplinary and outward-looking. Working at the interface with Information Systems research - as well as Information Science and Educational research - is broadening the impact of the field. Emerald is therefore adapting to these trends by broadening the scope of several of its titles, making name changes and appointing new editors.

Wellcome Open Research launches with first articles

Wellcome's publishing platform, Wellcome Open Research, has launched with its first articles published and freely available to view. These articles will shortly undergo open peer review. They span a range of formats - from more traditional research articles to data notes, software tools and study protocols, and are from academics across a range of career levels.

Ithaka S+R and PALCI join NFAIS as new members

The National Federation of Advanced Information Services (NFAISTM) has announced that Ithaka S+R and the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI) have joined NFAIS as new members. Ithaka S+R is a not-for-profit service that helps the academic community navigate economic and technological change. The Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. (PALCI) was formed in 1996 as a grassroots federation for the purpose of resource sharing with 35 academic libraries in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

USDA and CHORUS sign MoU to advance public access to content reporting on USDA-funded research

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and CHORUS have signed a memorandum of understanding to work together to advance public access to content reporting on USDA-funded research. USDA already links from the PubAg portal to CHORUS-verified, publicly accessible content on CHORUS Publisher Members' sites.

Consortium partners for new European Commission funded SCOPE Project announced

The European Science Foundation (ESF), l'École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) have been selected as Consortium partners for the new European Commission funded SCOPE project. The Grant Agreement has been signed by all partners and the project will be launched in 2017.

ACRL announces publication of Rewired: Research-Writing Partnerships within the Frameworks

The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) has announced the publication of 'Rewired: Research-Writing Partnerships within the Frameworks,' edited by Randall McClure. College and research librarians have been working alongside professors invested in writing in the disciplines for decades, but new kinds of partnerships are emerging as faculty members and librarians are re-imagining their work for students in a world where writing is both global and largely digital.
