Open access represents one third of all research articles published, says Simba report

The number of open access (OA) research articles published annually is growing at double the rate of the complete spectrum of research articles. This is according to the most recent report from media and publishing intelligence firm Simba Information. The report, Open Access Journal Publishing 2016-2020, found that open access already represents about a third of all research articles published when articles completing their embargo periods are included.

Elsevier updates major reference work, 'Encyclopedia of Applied Plant Sciences'

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the publication of the second edition of its major reference work, Encyclopedia of Applied Plant Sciences, edited by Brian Thomas, Denis Murphy and Brian Murray. The updated volume presents complete, authoritative information on more than 25 separate areas of plant science, covering both theory and applications.

Winner of 2016 EBSCO Charleston Conference Scholarship announced

EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has announced that Heidi Tebbe, the Collections & Research Librarian for Engineering and Data Science, from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C., is the winner of the 2016 EBSCO Charleston Conference Scholarship. The scholarship will pay for Tebbe to attend the 35th Annual Charleston Conference, which will take place in Charleston, South Carolina from October 31 – November 5.

Overleaf partners with The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Overleaf, an innovative provider of scientific writing and publishing tools, has announced a new partnership with The American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).
