Society for Scholarly Publishing Annual Meeting crosses boundaries, borders and aims to break down barriers

The 38th Annual Meeting of the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP) will be held at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver, BC, June 1-3, 2016. Although its membership includes professionals from around the world, this is the first time SSP is meeting outside of the US. The theme for this year's meeting is Crossing Boundaries: New Horizons in Scholarly Communication.

Nature Index 2016: US is the largest contributor to high-quality scientific research papers, followed by China and Germany

The US is the world's largest contributor to high-quality scientific research papers, followed by China and Germany, according to the Nature Index 2016 Tables. Of the top ten countries in the Nature Index, only China has shown double digit compound annual growth between 2012 and 2015 with some of its universities growing their contribution to the index as fast as 25% annually. US contributions have declined 2.8% in the same period from a very high base.

Thomson Reuters collaborates with Indian Education Ministry to advance global impact of its academic research performance

The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters has announced a strategic partnership to provide access to its online scientific citation indexing service, Web of Science, to India's e-Shodh Sindhu: Consortia for Higher Education Electronic Resources (ESS). Formed in 2015, ESS is an initiative of India's Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to provide academic institutes with access to electronic resources and promote their usage.

SAGE Publishing acquires Women's Health journal from Future Medicine

Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has announced the acquisition of the journal Women's Health from Future Medicine, an imprint of Future Science Group. SAGE will begin publishing the journal from its July issue. The journal focuses on the most important advances and highlights their relevance in the clinical setting.

BMJ and RCNi form B2B sales partnership for RCNi Learning – a new nursing e-learning platform

Global healthcare knowledge provider BMJ has announced that it is now the exclusive sales channel for institutional customers outside the UK wanting access to RCNi Learning – a brand new e-learning platform from RCNi for nurses and nursing students. RCNi is part of the Royal College of Nursing Group, connecting over 430,000 nurses worldwide. The collaboration builds on existing links between BMJ and RCNi.
