U.S. Court backs Google Book-Scanning Project, says it's legal under fair use |
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled October 16 that Google's massive project to make digital copies of tens of millions of books does not violate copyright laws. The opinion, by a three-judge panel of the appellate court, affirms an earlier decision by a New York district court that had also rejected the copyright-infringement claims that the Authors Guild and three writers had brought against Google. Nature Publishing Group and Tongji University partner to publish new OA journal - npj Pollution Control |
Scientific publisher Nature Publishing Group (NPG), part of Springer Nature, and Tongji University will partner to publish a new open access journal - npj Pollution Control. PeerJ announces single low payment for full open access publication |
Open access publisher PeerJ has announced that researchers now have the option to pay a fixed (U.S.) $695 per article fee ('APC') to publish in PeerJ, a peer-reviewed Open Access journal in biology, medicine, and the life sciences. This option is also available to the new PeerJ Computer Science journal and represents one of the lowest APCs amongst similar classes of Open Access journals in academia. More
