Elsevier announces publication of five new books on food and health including comprehensive encyclopedia

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the publication of the globally oriented new title, Encyclopedia of Food and Health. The five-volume encyclopaedia provides readers with comprehensive coverage of a wide range of topics, from food production and processing to health effects. Elsevier also announced the publication of four additional food and health books.

Springer sponsors Trans-Tasman 3MT® competition for young researchers

STM publisher Springer, part of the newly formed publishing group Springer Nature, is sponsoring the Trans-Tasman Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition. This high-profile event challenges doctoral students to condense and explain years of research to a non-specialist audience in a matter of minutes. Doctoral candidates from 50 universities across the Asia Pacific will take part in the contest on 2 October 2015 at the University of Queensland, Australia.

EBSCO releases Serial Price Projection for 2016

The 2016 Serials Price Projection Report from EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) advises that the overall effective publisher price increases for academic/medical libraries are expected to be in the range of 4 to 6 percent (before currency impact). EBSCO releases the Serials Price Projections based on surveys of a wide range of publishers and reviews of historical serials pricing data to assist information professionals as they make budgeting decisions for renewals season.

Journal of Electronic Imaging names Karen Egiazarian as editor-in-chief

Prof. Karen Egiazarian of Tampere University of Technology in Finland has been named editor-in-chief of the Journal of Electronic Imaging (JEI) starting January 1, 2016. TU Delft Library goes live with OCLC WorldShare Management Services

Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), one of the world's leading technical universities, is now live using OCLC WorldShare Management Services (WMS) as its library management system. The university library is the second in the Netherlands to go live with WMS, following Tilburg University. Other libraries in the Netherlands are expected to follow the lead of TU Delft and Tilburg University as they implement WMS in the coming months.
