Wiley partners with The AIChE and its Society for Biological Engineering to launch new OA journal - Bioengineering & Translational Medicine

Publisher John Wiley and Sons Inc. has announced a partnership with The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and its Society for Biological Engineering (SBE), to launch a new quarterly, peer-reviewed, open access journal, Bioengineering & Translational Medicine. To be launched in 2016 as part of the Wiley Open Access portfolio, the new journal will be edited by Samir Mitragotri of the University of California, Santa Barbara.

PLOS appoints Louise Page as new Publisher

Open access journal publisher PLOS has announced the appointment of a new Publisher responsible for building on PLOS' first class publishing operation while overseeing publishing services, production operations, business development, strategy, product management and other departments. Following a thorough and rigorous search, PLOS named Louise Page to the position, effective December 1, 2015.

Future Science OA accepted for indexing by the Database of Open Access Journals

Eleven IOS Press journals selected for inclusion in the ESCI

STM publisher IOS Press has announced that eleven of its journals will be included in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), a new index to be launched by Thomson Reuters in November 2015. ESCI will extend the collection of publications in Web of Science, including high-quality, peer-reviewed publications of regional importance and in emerging scientific fields.

Springer in deal with Zhejiang University Press to co-publish new book series

STM publisher Springer, part of the newly formed publishing group Springer Nature, has signed an agreement with Zhejiang University Press to co-publish a new book series Research on the Intelligent City Construction and Promotion Strategies. The book series will present the results of a major advisory research project of the same name, launched by the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE).

Elsevier to publish open access journal - South African Journal of Chemical Engineering

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that it has been selected to publish the open access journal South African Journal of Chemical Engineering. The journal is owned by the South African Institution of Chemical Engineers (SAIChE) and has been licensed to the Institution of Chemical Engineering (IChemE), who will support and develop the journal alongside its existing portfolio of chemical engineering journals.

De Gruyter announces appointment of Ralf Grümme as the new Director of Marketing at De Gruyter

Academic publisher De Gruyter has announced that effective November 17, 2015, Ralf Grümme will take over as De Gruyter's new Director of Marketing, replacing Christine Woll, who is leaving the company at her own request.
