STM publisher Springer recently introduced the 'full book download functionality' on SpringerLink and Springer for R&D in response to the high demand for this feature by authors, researchers and library customers. AAP releases statement on OSTP deadline for federal agencies' public access plans |
The US federal agencies with over $100 million in R&D expenditures were required to submit their plans by August 22, 2013 to the OSTP outlining how they will expand public access to the output of the research they fund. AAP, which stated its support of the OSTP process on February 22, has released a statement according to which AAP remains supportive of its work to expand public access to federally-funded research and looks forward to continuing its ongoing involvement in this thoughtful process. More

ARL Diversity Scholars selected for 2013-2015 |
The ARL Committee on Diversity and Leadership has selected 15 masters of library and information science (MLIS) students to participate in the 2013-2015 Initiative to Recruit a Diverse Workforce (IRDW) as ARL Diversity Scholars. The ARL IRDW offers numerous financial benefits to programme participants as well as leadership development provided through the annual ARL Leadership Symposium, a formal mentoring program, career placement assistance, and a research library visit hosted by the Purdue University Libraries. HathiTrust Research Center awarded Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant for WCSA project |
The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded a $437,000 grant to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in partnership with Indiana University for a new project in the HathiTrust Research Center (HTRC). The 'Workset Creation for Scholarly Analysis: Prototyping Project' (WCSA) will be directed by HTRC Co-director and GSLIS Associate Dean for Research, J. Stephen Downie. More
