Breaking the Paywall Paradox: Can AI Make Open Science Truly Open?  
The open access movement promised to democratize science, but soaring Article Processing Charges (APCs) now risk excluding the very researchers it sought to empower. As publishing costs climb, access to visibility increasingly depends on funding rather than merit. Artificial intelligence offers a path to rebalance this equation by automating and streamlining editorial and production workflows, cutting costs, and enabling more equitable publishing models. Rather than deepening dependence on APCs, AI can help make open science genuinely open.
