CDL, CRL and HathiTrust collaborate to launch new collection comparison tool
In the beginning of 2020, CDL joined with the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) and HathiTrust to form a Collaboration for Shared Print Infrastructure. Working together, the Collaboration seeks to build on a decade of community innovation and expertise to define a new phase of shared print built on open and interconnected infrastructure. As a first step toward that larger vision, CDL has announced the launch of a new collection comparison tool realised in partnership with the Center for Research Libraries and HathiTrust.
Cabells and scite partner to bring Smart Citations to Journalytics
Cabells, a provider of key intelligence on academic journals for research professionals, and scite, a platform for discovering and evaluating scientific articles, have partnered to bring scite's Smart Citations to Cabells Journalytics publication summaries. Journalytics is a curated database of over 11,000 verified academic journals spanning 18 disciplines, developed to help researchers and institutions optimise decision-making around the publication of research.
EMS Press has announced that all 10 of its Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) journals will become open access for 2021, including its flagship publication Journal of the European Mathematical Society. The Press chose S2O as its preferred route to open access as it does not rely on author fees, allowing for equitable and sustainable open access with a focus on high-quality research.
ACS appoints Cathleen Crudden as editor-in-chief of ACS Catalysis
The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) has appointed Cathleen Crudden as editor-in-chief (EIC) of ACS Catalysis. Crudden currently serves as an associate editor for the journal. The journal seeks to acquire content in the areas of new reactions and new approaches to synthesis involving known catalysts, discovery or modification of new catalysts, novel mechanistic and investigatory studies on catalysis, practical enhancements of known processes, and conceptual advances.
IWA Publishing transforms its journals to Open Access using Subscribe-to-Open
IWA Publishing, the wholly owned publishing subsidiary of the International Water Association based in London, has successfully transformed its journal portfolio of 10 subscription titles—including the flagship journal Water Science & Technology—to Open Access (OA) from 2021 onwards. In partnership with Knowledge Unlatched (KU), IWA Publishing has asked libraries and institutions currently subscribing to any of the journals to renew for 2021 on a Subscribe-to-Open (S2O) basis, thus contributing to making the journals free to readers and researchers worldwide.
Web of Conferences and TIB – German National Library of Science and Technology agree to extend consortium discount for conference proceedings
EDP Sciences has announced an extension to the agreement between Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB) German National Library of Science and Technology and Web of Conferences, the open access platform from EDP Sciences. The agreement offers a consortium discount of 15 percent for the publication of conference proceedings and has been extended for a further two years until the end of 2022.
