BMC Medicine becomes the first clinical research journal to accept Registered Reports

BMC Medicine, an open access journal, has become the first clinical research journal to accept Registered Reports, enabling researchers to take a proactive approach towards improving transparency and reproducibility in science. The Registered Reports format is supported by the Center for Open Science (COS) and aims to minimise bias by allowing authors to submit their rationale and methods for peer-review before any experiments are conducted.

SAGE to publish Sociological Research Online in partnership with The British Sociological Association

Academic publisher SAGE Publishing has announced that it will publish Sociological Research Online (SRO) in partnership with the British Sociological Association (BSA). Published quarterly since 1996, SRO is an online only journal publishing high-quality research pertaining to sociological enquiry.

Emerald appoints Professor Greg Marshall as Editor-in-Chief of European Journal of Marketing

Academic publisher Emerald has announced the appointment of Professor Greg W. Marshall, Charles Harwood Professor of Marketing and Strategy, Crummer Graduate School of Business USA as the new Editor-in-Chief of European Journal of Marketing. Prof Marshall also holds an appointment as Honorary Professor of Marketing and Strategy at the Aston Business School, Birmingham UK.

USC Press names Richard Brown as Director

University of South Carolina Press has named Richard Brown as its new director. Brown joins Carolina from Georgetown University where he has served as Press Director since 2001. At USC Press, he will be responsible for the editorial, fiscal and marketing strategies of USC Press, South Carolina's oldest and largest book publisher, specialising in scholarly humanities and regional trade publications.
