Major educational content providers and distributors join forces to fight counterfeit textbooks

Academic publishers Cengage, McGraw-Hill Education, and Pearson have joined forces with Ingram and Chegg, Inc. to have them adopt and implement a set of Anti-Counterfeit Best Practices designed to address the growing problem of counterfeit print textbooks. The Anti-Counterfeit Best Practices are intended to assist distributors with combating counterfeits of print textbooks that hurt students, educators, publishers and distributors.

Elsevier launches new OA journal for healthcare professionals dealing with burn injuries

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of Burns Open: An International Open Access Journal for Burn Injuries. Published on behalf of the International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI), and a companion to Burns, this new international open access journal aims to foster the exchange of information on burn care among practitioners and others interested in the field.

Research institutions in the US, France and Germany top second annual Reuters Top 25 Global Innovators ranking of government research institutions

The US Department of Health and Human Services, France's Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission and Germany's Fraunhofer Society top the Reuters Top 25 Global Innovators ranking of government research institutions, a list that identifies and ranks the publicly funded institutions doing the most to advance science and technology. The rankings were compiled in partnership with Clarivate Analytics, formerly the Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters, and are based on proprietary data and analysis of indicators including patent filings and research paper citations.

Arizona Universities Library Consortium opts for Ex Libris Alma, Primo and bX solutions

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the Arizona Universities Library Consortium (AULC) has chosen the Ex Libris Alma® library management service, along with the Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery platform and bX® scholarly recommender service, to make scholarly resources more readily available to the consortium's student and faculty users. The AULC will benefit from the various configuration options in Alma that support the consortium's current and planned business practices without the need for complex workarounds.

Emerald Publishing launches new titles for World Book Day
