Ten ASM Press titles included in 2016 edition of Doody's Core Titles in the Health Sciences

The American Society for Microbiology Press has announced the inclusion of ten ASM Press titles in the 2016 edition of Doody's Core Titles in the Health Sciences. Doody's Core Titles in the Health Sciences is the essential collection development tool for health sciences libraries around the world. Each year, core titles that represent essential knowledge needed by professionals or students in a given discipline, are selected for the Doody's Core Titles list.

De Gruyter and Dutch Universities signs Open Access license agreement

The Association of Universities in the Netherlands (VSNU) and the academic publisher De Gruyter have signed an agreement that provides for the publication of an unlimited number of Open Access articles in De Gruyter's hybrid journals. The portfolio available to Dutch scholars consists of 370 peer-reviewed journals.

W3C and IDPF to organise one-day Publishing Community Meeting at W3C TPAC 2016

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) are organizing a one-day Publishing Community Meeting during W3C's largest annual event, TPAC (Technical Plenary / Advisory Committee week). The Publishing Community Meeting at W3C TPAC (Lisbon, Portugal) will be held on September 22 from 08:30 until 15:00.

Cochrane partners with four leading organisations to host the first Global Evidence Summit in 2017

Cochrane, together with four other leading organisations in the production and dissemination of evidence for decision making in the global health, social, and economic policy and practice sectors – has announced the first 'Global Evidence Summit' in Cape Town, South Africa from September 12-16, 2017. The theme of the GES, 'Using Evidence. Improving Lives', will highlight and promote evidence-informed approaches to health policy and development, offering the most cost-effective interventions.

The UK Government commissions Tech Partnership to create standards for basic digital skills

The Tech Partnership has been asked by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to define the standards for basic digital skills – the skills that everyone needs for life in a digitally-enabled world; for getting into employment; and for success in the world of work. Recognising the need for a universally accepted baseline in this area, the Government has commissioned the Partnership to produce a set of standards that clearly describe the entry level digital skills required by business and industry.
