Elsevier's new ECC Webcasts platform offers free access to webcasts of the European Cancer Congress

A new online platform, run by Elsevier and hosted by the European Journal of Cancer (EJC), seeks to provide healthcare professionals free access to a selection of lectures from Europe's biggest cancer conference, providing them with the latest research on a variety of cancers and treatments. The ECC Webcasts platform features webcasts of some of the ECCO ESMO Industry Sponsored Satellite Symposia.

Five Wiley journals become open access

Publisher John Wiley and Sons, Inc. has announced the conversion of five of its leading journals to the Wiley Open Access Program. All articles in Plant Biotechnology Journal, GCB Bioenergy, Health Expectations, Atmospheric Science Letters, and Clinical and Translational Science will be free to read, download and share, effective January 1, 2016. The addition of these journals to Wiley's Open Access Program brings the total number of Wiley's open access titles up to 61.

National Institute of Informatics in Japan and COAR to co-organise meeting of the Asian OA Community in Tokyo

The National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Japan and COAR are co-organising a meeting of the Asian OA Community in Tokyo, Japan on March 4th, 2016 in conjunction with the Research Data Alliance meeting. Universities in the UK and Egypt sign partnership agreements to develop scientific research and increase opportunities for student and staff exchanges

Universities in the UK and Egypt have reportedly signed 10 partnership agreements aimed at building scientific research and increasing opportunities for student and staff exchanges. The memoranda of understanding and letters of intent were signed on January 20 during the visit of an Egyptian higher education delegation to the UK, organised by the British Council.
