Elsevier acquires clinical decision support technology provider, InferMed

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the acquisition of InferMed, a clinical decision support (CDS) technology company. InferMed is headquartered in London and has employees in France, Australia and New Zealand. The acquisition is effective immediately and financial terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.

Springer Nature creates new global Policy & External Relations and Communications teams

Springer Nature has created a new Policy & External Relations team as well as a combined Communications team to work in the recently-merged organisation. The two teams have global responsibility and will be led by Eric Merkel-Sobotta and Joyce Lorigan respectively. Both will report to Derk Haank, CEO of Springer Nature.

Brill joins International Publishers Copyright Protection Coalition in China

Academic publisher Brill joins the International Publishers Copyright Protection Coalition in China to support efforts to create awareness about intellectual property rights and enter into dialogue with important stakeholders. Brill joined as the most recent 17th member and will be represented by Chinese speaking Legal Counsel, Mieke de Vries Robbé, and Liesbeth Kanis, Chief Representative and Business Development Manager Asia, based in Singapore.

The BMJ becomes first general medical journal to require data sharing for all submitted trials

The BMJ, a weekly peer-reviewed medical journal, requires sharing of individual patient data for all clinical trials, effective July 1, 2015. This means that trials will be considered for publication only if the authors agree to make the relevant anonymised patient level data available on reasonable request.
