COAR announces participation in Europe's OpenAIRE2020

The Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) has announced its participation in the OpenAIRE2020, to work towards international alignment of repository networks, a key priority for COAR. COAR will lead the work package, 'International Alignment', enabling to further support work already underway at COAR to facilitate greater interoperability of the major repository networks: La Referencia, OpenAIRE, SHARE and others.

Elsevier unveils new journal - Journal of Interprofessional Education & Practice

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of the Journal of Interprofessional Education & Practice (JIEP), the official journal of the National Academies of Practice (NAP) and affiliated with the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). JIEP is a quarterly, online-only journal focusing on interprofessional healthcare topics, including education, practice, policy, policy makers and research.

Research has revealed a sharp rise in the number of students using social media to stay in touch with tutors at college and university, with 40 percent of students now using social as their primary means of communication with lecturers. Jisc conducted a study into the use of technology in higher and further education to mark the launch of the Jisc Digital Festival, which is helping those delivering education in the UK to be at the forefront of technology practice.

Elsevier launches SciVal Trends, a new module within SciVal

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of SciVal Trends, a new module within SciVal, Elsevier's tool to analyse and benchmark the world of research, and part of the Elsevier Research Intelligence portfolio of tools and services. The Trends module builds on SciVal's existing flexibility to define and analyse user created research areas based on citation and publication data from Scopus.

Allen Press announces 42 percent increase in the number of journals hosted on the Pinnacle Online Publishing platform

Allen Press, Inc. has announced that over the past twelve months, the number of journals hosted on its Pinnacle Online Publishing platform has increased by 42 percent. The platform will now host 184 publications on 117 publisher websites. This growth also includes 23 publishers previously hosting their content on the Metapress platform, which will be decommissioned in early 2015.
