AI-first approach is essential for solving these challenges. By automating the heavy lifting of tagging, validating fields, aligning ontologies, and identifying gaps, AI enables more accurate and scalable metadata creation. Editors remain central, providing oversight and judgment while AI manages the repetitive work. Together, they ensure research stays visible, connected, and meaningful in an increasingly fragmented ecosystem.
